About me
For the last 15 years, I’ve been capturing the beauty, resilience, and shifting landscape of this city—especially in the Downtown Eastside (DTES), where I lived for many years.
Street photography, for me, has never been just an art form—it has been a way of discovering myself.
As I worked to rebuild certain aspects of my life, photography became more than a tool for documentation. It became a way to focus, to find clarity in chaos, and to reframe fleeting moments through the lens of my camera. ( I also offer 1:1 recovery coaching for those seeking real change. Learn more here. )
Recognized as an established Vancouver artist, I have been supported by the City of Vancouver for my contributions to the local arts scene, allowing me to take part in city-supported projects that continue to shape my creative journey.
This website is a collection of those fifteen years—a visual record of my presence, my motivation, and my exploration as a street photographer in East Vancouver.

Hello For the last 15 years, I’ve been capturing the beauty, resilience, and shifting landscape of this city, especially in the Downtown Eastside (DTES), where I lived for many years. Street photography, for me, has never been just an art form, it has been a way of discovering myself. As I worked to rebuild certain aspects of my life, photography became more than a tool for documentation. It became a way to focus, to find clarity in chaos, and to reframe fleeting moments through the lens of my camera and early recovery. Recognized as an established Vancouver artist, I have been supported by the City of Vancouver for my contributions to the local arts scene, allowing me to take part in city-supported projects that continue to shape my creative journey. This website is a collection of those fifteen years, a visual record of my presence, my motivation, and my exploration as a street photographer in East Vancouver.

About ME
I’m Norman Fox, a street photographer based in East Vancouver. For over 15 years, I’ve used my camera to document the raw beauty, resilience, and shifting landscape of this city — especially in the Downtown Eastside (DTES), where I lived for many years. Photography, for me, has never been just an art form— it’s a way of making sense of the world.
As I rebuilt my life, my camera became more than a tool for documentation; it became a way to focus. To find clarity in chaos, to frame a narrative in fleeting moments, to look deeper when others might look away.
My work explores that tension —between survival and stillness, presence and absence, resilience and erasure.
Recognized as an established Vancouver artist, I’ve been supported by the City of Vancouver for my contributions to the local arts scene, allowing me to participate in city-supported projects that continue to shape my creative journey.
This website is a collection of my work— a visual record of the stories, encounters, and moments I’ve preserved before they disappeared. Each image is an invitation to pause, to reflect, to see the world through a different lens.
Whether you’re drawn to the shifting streets of the DTES, the people who define Vancouver, or the way photography preserves memory and truth, I hope these images resonate with you.
